Exploring Collaboration Between the Creative Economy and Sustainable Hospitality 

GUAVA International was honoured to meet with Vice Minister Irene Umar from Indonesia’s Creative Economy Ministry (EKRAF) and host a roundtable session in collaboration with Politeknik Jakarta International, attended by representatives from the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenpar RI). The discussion explored opportunities for collaboration at the intersection of creative economy, hospitality, tourism, and sustainable development. 

The discussion focused on opportunities to develop distinctive hospitality concepts and experiences that showcase local creativity while delivering meaningful value for destinations, communities, and businesses. We also appreciated Bu Irene’s insights on the potential for cross-ministry collaboration, including opportunities to work alongside Indonesia’s tourism ecosystem to support destination development and innovation. 

During the meeting, GUAVA shared our United Nations Global Compact hospitality case study and regional work in sustainability, wellbeing, carbon reduction, community impact, and destination partnerships. We also explored potential pilot initiatives in Indonesia that could demonstrate how creative economy, sustainability, and hospitality can work together to create measurable impact and business value. 

Indonesia’s creative talent, cultural diversity, and tourism potential make it an exciting environment for innovation, and we look forward to exploring future opportunities for collaboration.
